Week-Long Overnight Camp

MonomoyDays A-Way Program

Days A-Way is an exciting co-educational camp program for children ages 8-13 with approximately 45 campers per week. The innovative Days A-Way program offers campers the opportunity to participate in an overnight camping experience from Mondays through Fridays after which they can join their families for the weekends. The Days A-Way (DAW) program is a wonderful introduction to the overnight camping experience, or an action packed alternative for children vacationing with their parents on Cape Cod.

DAW Camp Season

The camp season is seven weeks long, Monday through Friday. Campers arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 on Monday mornings and the DAW program concludes on Fridays at approximately 3PM after the Spirit Assembly. DAW campers are welcome to take advantage of the Monomoy Day Camp bus transportation on Mondays and Fridays.

Camper Units

Campers are placed in groups or units according to their age, grade, maturity and friendships. The Days A-Way campers join their Day Camp friends during the Day Camp’s hours and then have additional special activities offered in the afternoons and evenings.

Campers are housed in four comfortable Day Camp cabins accommodating approximately 10-12 campers and 3 staff members. The cabins are screened and have electricity. Bathrooms and showers are directly adjacent to the cabins.

Transportation for Campers

Transportation for Days-A-Way campers is limited to parents or guardians dropping off on Monday morning at the start of the session. We also request that parents or guardians pick up their camper(s) on Friday afternoon. If there is a conflict with transportation it is imperative to communicate this with the Camp office so accommodations can be made.

Bedding, Towels and Linens

CCSC provides a pillow, pillowcase, sheets, blankets and towels for showering. Campers may wish to bring along personal bedding items to make them feel at home. As the camp towels are small and only for showering, it is best to bring along a large beach towel to use after swimming.

Clothing and Equipment

Campers will need to pack enough clothing for 5 days and 4 nights. While DAW campers do not have laundry service while at camp, our camp laundry service is always available for emergencies. The Parent Handbook will include a detailed clothing list, however, suggested items include:

  • Bathing Suits (2)
  • Shorts (4)
  • T Shirts (6)
  • Long Sleeved Shirt (1)
  • Long Pants (2)
  • Underwear (6)
  • Pajamas (1)
  • Sweatshirts (1)
  • Beach Towel (1)
  • Hat (1)
  • Rain Gear (1)
  • Sneakers (1)
  • Socks (6)
  • Sandals (1)
  • Flashlight
  • Duffel Bag
  • Toiletries
  • Insect Repellent
  • Sun Screen

CCSC provides all athletic equipment, but some campers feel more comfortable with their own tennis racquets, sailing life jackets, or baseball gloves. Valuable personal articles must not be brought to camp (i.e. electronic games, cell phones, electronic equipment, expensive sunglasses, etc.)

To maintain our distinctive camp environment, we do not allow campers to utilize or have in their possession cellular telephones or wi-fi enabled devices while at camp. Counselors and staff are also restricted in their use of cellular phones and other electronic devices while on campus.

Friday Spirit Assembly

Each Friday afternoon, the entire Monomoy Day Camp (including DAW) participates in our special all-camp assembly beginning at approximately 2:00PM. The length of the assembly varies each week and may delay bus departures on Friday afternoons. Families and friends are welcome to attend!

Space Availability

DAW Spaces are limited to four cabins with two allocated for girls and two allocated for boys. Each cabin accommodates approximately 12 campers.
Campers may enroll for 1 to 3 sessions in our DAW program. Enrolling for more than 2-3 weeks indicates your camper is ready for a full residential camping experience. Campers who request more than 3 weeks will be placed on a waiting list for the additional sessions.

Campers may also sign up for DAW in conjunction with additional day camp sessions.

Camp tuition (less the $500 NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee which is due upon enrollment) is payable in full by April 1st to ensure your child’s enrollment. Tuition covers Monomoy Day Camp bus transportation on Monday and Friday, meals, snacks, housing, bedding, nursing coverage and camp health center care, accident insurance, unit trips, program materials and all in-camp activities.

Camp tuition does not cover optional trips, laundry service, medical bills due to illness or store/canteen charges. No refunds on any fees for DAW will be made after April 1st. No reduction in tuition is made for a campers not using transportation or meals, arriving late or departing early or withdrawal due to camper or parent “homesickness.” Any changes in enrollment after April 1st or withdrawals after the start of the camp session will forfeit the camp fee. In case of accident or illness, if the camper returns home upon the recommendation of our health care professionals or directors, the unused portion of the tuition will be refunded. In the case of the expulsion of a camper by Cape Cod Sea Camps, the unused portion of the tuition will be refunded.

A two percent (2%) discount is given on the tuition of each camper when two or more children are enrolled from the same family at the day camp and/or DAW program.

Enrollment Procedure

To enroll your child, we require a NON-REFUNDABLE Registration Fee ($500.) in U.S. funds and a signed application form to be completed for each child. Our age groups/units are limited in size to provide a quality program. Early enrollment is of mutual benefit and avoids disappointment should an age group become full.

In order to attend camp, campers are required to have a completed health waiver on file June 1st. Forms are available upon request and will be sent to all registered campers.

If a child has had a complete physical examination within the last year, have your physician fill out and sign the form which is then returned to camp. For a child with a history of health problems, we request a completed health record within 30 days after your child’s camp registration so we can review the medical record and the recommendations of your physician.

All campers are covered within limitations for accidents, less a deductible per accident. Parents are notified immediately in the event of illness or accident.

Campers A-Way

If you are interested in a short-term resident camp experience for your child, please consider our Campers A-Way program which is a 10-day overnight camp experience through our Resident Camp for children aged 8-13.
